Published paper on IEEE (Intelligent Video Surveillance Based on YOLO)
In our study, we delve into the critical challenge of identifying handheld weapons, such as pistols, which play a predominant role in various crimes. Utilizing state-of-the-art object detection models, our research uniquely focuses on the detection of small, easily concealed objects. Through an exhaustive analysis, we compared leading models like YOLOv3 and YOLOv4, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing public safety through technological innovation.
Key Findings:
- YOLOv4's Superior Performance: Achieving an impressive mAP@0.5 of 98.79%, our study highlights YOLOv4's exceptional ability to detect handheld weapons with high precision (91%) and recall (99%).
- Comparative Insights: While YOLOv3 showcased commendable results with an mAP@0.5 of 90.37%, precision at 93%, and recall at 80%, YOLOv4 emerged as the more efficient model for this crucial application.

Smart India Hackathon Winner (SIH 2022)
Developed an innovative AI solution for Disaster Management challenges, recognized at a national level. Development of a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for Tropical Cyclone intensity estimation using half-hourly INSAT-3D IR Images and development of a web application for visualization of the imagery. INSAT3D/3DR observations are available at every 15-minute interval and these observations are very useful in understanding the instantaneous structural changes during evolution, intensification, and landfall of Tropical Cyclones. Datasets of Cyclones captured by INSAT-3D over the Indian Oceans are available since 2014. These datasets can be used for training and testing of the Model. Traditional methods for Intensity estimation require accurate center determination for intensity estimation. Development of CNN based model for intensity estimation will be very useful during the initial stage of cyclone formation when determination of accurate center becomes difficult.
